Teri Stewart
Teri Stewart was first introduced to Navarro College when she enrolled in the Adult Education and Literacy program in order to receive her GED. She continued her education with Navarro and eventually graduated with an AAS in Business before transferring to Dallas Baptist University. At DBU, she earned a bachelor’s degree and master’s in Higher Education. She received a second master’s degree in communications through Amberton University, and also earned an Executive Communication Skills certification. Teri’s journey through life and education have led her to incredulous professional and personal opportunities, fulfilling relationships, and an unwavering belief in the mission of Navarro College and higher education.
Teri is a business advisor for the Small Business Development Center at Navarro College, and also works as a speech professor and transitions coordinator and recruiter. She has been with the College since October of 2020. She and her husband are the owner/operators of four roller skating rinks: Cedar Hill Roller Rink, Stewart’s Skating, Ennis Roller Rink, and Canton Roller Rink. In addition to being a small business owner, she operates a local café and is very involved in her church, J Bar C Cowboy Church, where her husband serves as the lead pastor. Teri considers her love of Jesus, Navarro College, and education to be a complete privilege to share with her community:
“Navarro College has made huge impact on my life. I am so blessed to be a bulldog. Navarro College is like an extended family and that is very special to me. The two topics that I speak in my house daily is Jesus and Navarro College. I live life to make a difference. Jesus and education changed my life, and it can do the same for you.”
Teri’s favorite memories include her own Adult Education Completion ceremony. “That ceremony gave me hope, and that hope gave me courage and a testimony to share with others,” she says. In 2021, she was asked to share her story with students before they walked the stage at their own ceremony. Teri recalls, “There were tears of joy that day.”
In her free time, Teri loves to read, fish, and spend time at she and her husband’s lake house with family and friends.
